GREENTIE
was an international directory of suppliers whose technologies help to reduce
greenhouse gas emissions. It also provided information on funding and on
leading international organisations and IEA programmes whose RD&D and
information activities centre around clean energy technologies. It was
set up in 1995 in response to Agenda 21 and the UN Framework
Convention on Climate Change as a tool to help countries fulfil their
commitments to the Convention by providing information on technology options.
In
1996, GREENTIE joined CADDET Energy Efficiency and CADDET
Renewable Energy as the third Annex to the IEA (International
Energy Agency) Agreement known as EETIC (Energy and Environmental
Technologies Information Centres) complementing the CADDET project information
with additional supplier information. Along with its sister programme, CADDET,
GREENTIE ceased collecting new information at the end of March 2005. Nevertheless,
the information will remain available through this web site's search facilities as it represents
one of the World's most detailed repositories of such information.
EETIC members have agreed to maintain the CADDET and GREENTIE web sites for a further period on a
'read only' basis.
